We at HOSR are deeply sadden to hear of the news of the passing of our fellow brother in Christ and HHH deejay Carlos “DJ Primo”. Below is a email sent from Tre9 co-CEO of the DaSouth.com:

DJ Primo dealt with very difficult issues which became more than he was willing to fight beyond. Sometime after 2pm on April 3, 2012 he took his own life and went on to be with the Lord. We are deeply troubled but are assured that our brother loved the Lord and will never be forgotten for the many years of outreaches and ministry events where he led hundreds to the Lord as a Christian hip hop DJ. Just this past Friday he was on the mission field at an outreach with Hip Hop Hope doing what he loved to do, spin Christian Hip Hop for people.

He was our main DJ at Hip Hop Hope every Tuesday. When he didn’t show up last night, I told everyone he would be back next Tuesday. I had no idea he wouldn’t be back. I know our youth will miss him and have a hard time understanding this, please keep them lifted.

I spent many times trying to help Primo through his storm. Over 6 months ago, he made an attempt on his life which thankfully failed. While visiting him in the hospital, he was certain that he wouldn’t do it again. We were sure that he was going to overcome this time, but his family and many others never stopped being there for him. I am assured that many of us in his life tried our best to keep him encouraged and fighting through his personal issues. In the end, it was just too much for him to bear in spite of the counsel, love and support he was shown.

We will dedicate Hip Hop Hope Tuesday on April 10th to his legacy, which you are all welcome to attend. We will also have a larger gathering to celebrate his life at a later date. Many of you were his friends and ministry partners and we wouldn’t plan it without you, however we will allow a time of mourning for the family before proceeding. I will keep you posted.

His wife Suhaylee, daughter Carleey and son Zeek will need your prayers, as well as the rest of his family.
